H is for Haunted House

Fall brings with it some fun preschool themes!
Today we did H is for Haunted House!

We built some teensy haunted houses from toilet paper rolls.

Then we did a directional worksheet where the kids used their
listening skills to place spooky stickers on a haunted house scene.

We had a birthday party with Mr. Mason here who's turning 4!

It was such a nice day that we did some outdoor learning in the afternoon.
We did number review by jumping on the giant chalk numbers!

During creative play, we did some water painting on the patio.

H is for Healthy!

We did one of MY favorite topics today. H is for Healthy!
I think the kids had a great time learning about how to be healthy.

We pulled different types of food out of our mystery grab bag and talked about foods that
are good for us, and foods that are ok to eat just some times. :)

We looked through magazines and hunted for healthy foods for a collage!

Annslie brought us a delicious healthy snack that the kids were crazy about!

For math today, we guessed how many seeds are in an apple
(after we ready How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin, but that's a lot of seeds to count for preschoolers :)

Then I cut open an apple and we counted the seeds inside.

 I was shocked...
Our apple only had three seeds!!! These were our guesstimate winners!

We also did some healthy/not healthy food sorting.

And we finished the day with some stretching and exercise!

Fun Fall Activities!

Today we did one of my favorite things so far in preschool. We did Pumpkin Reports !

Each kid got to pick a pumpkin and we collected information about them such as weight, height, color, and circumference and put the information into a report !

Weighing our pumpkins.

We also introduced the letter H. We talked about how the word house starts with H. Since
Halloween is nearly here, we colored houses and added water spouts and itsy-bitsy spiders!

Then we all built our own version of a house with blocks.

We continued practicing our name with some fun ghost writing!
(Writing with white crayons on black paper... the kids found it facinating).

The kids loved using the ghost stamp on our letter Hh worksheet!

A-G Review Week

This week we spent lots of time reviewing the letters we've already discussed A-G (I can't believe we're already about a quarter of the way through the alphabet)!

Hunting for letters

Stamping letters

We've had fun talking about the changing season and doing fall crafts.
Tearing paper into little leaves to make a fall tree !

Playing with the fall felt board !

We were excited to get to celebrate Miss Katelyn's birthday with her on thursday !
Happy Birthday, cutie !

Germs!

Today was all about germs !

We talked all about how we keep from sharing germs and getting germs that will make us sick!

We learned how easily germs spread when Lily had glitter on her hands and shook hands
with the rest of the class! Everyone got glitter germs on their hands !
Luckily those germs wash off easy with soap and water !

Our craft:
When we have a runny nose, we wipe it off with a tissue, not our hands.

The kids did their own renditions of what a germs look like
with play doh, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners.

Putting googly eyes on the germs !

And then we had some fun painting . . .

 and playing with magnets !

G is for Grow!

Our discussion today was all about the letter G and what grows!

We went for a nature walk and collected lots of things along the way. Then we came back and pulled out all of our treasures and talked about which ones grow and which ones don't!

Leaf rubbings !

We discussed how a pumpkin grows.

And then we had pumpkin chocolate chip cookies !

The kids stamped pictures of things that grow.

We practiced planting flowers with our felt board. :)

And then we finished off the day by planting some grass that
we will continue to take care of during preschool!
