D is for Desert

Today we started class making necklaces with our names out of letter beads.

We read the book "D is for Desert" and we learned about the kinds of things we might find in a desert climate.

After that we did a water color painting of a sunset with the silhouette of a cactus and a coyote. 

The kids loved glueing sand onto their paintings !

We hunted for the rattlesnakes in the sand sensory bin.

We also made cacti out of play dough and spaghetti noodles.

One of the kids favorite activities was a desert wildlife dice game that we played where they acted like different desert animals!
